We've often posted
some tips and review from
Nick Tumminello of Performance University,
because we think he has a great mind in the field and has great advice to
offer for all levels of fitness enthusiasts. This month's tip is a
review of his new DVD.
The DVD focuses on 9 movements, each given 2-3 progressions. Although some of the movements may be seen as a simple and basic, CNS activation “enables timing and rhythm, increases overall coordination, and prepares the body for fast explosive movements”. Given the previous statement, it can be seen how CNS activation is well suited for any workout involving Olympic lifts, plyometrics, and speed/agility work. No detail is left uncovered as in depth instruction and cues are given for each movement. For example, the jumping jack is seen a very simple movement, yet a small detail like clapping the hands at the top of the movement can minimize stress on the shoulders and keep them in neutral position. Verbal cues and physical signs on when progression to the 2nd or 3rd level can be made are also included. Nick Tumminello leaves no stone uncovered in his latest warm up progression DVD and would be a valuable addition to any strength coach’s library. -Sergio Merino
