I was recently sent an advanced copy of Bill Hartman and Mike Robertson’s new Inside-Out Warm-Up DVD and Manual.

I’ve also had the opportunity to view Mike Robertson and Eric Cressey’s Magnificent Mobility DVD, and if you’ve seen that one you can expect this one to be another hit!

Warming up the upper body is often a neglected thought when it comes to designing an effective and efficient warm-up prior to training or competition.  We’ll do some arm circles and shoulder rolls, but what else are there?

The shoulder joint is a very tricky one to deal with.  It offers the most mobility and least stability of any joint in the body.  So why would we need to mobilize it more, if it already has it?  The key is to not only stabilize the joint, but also get the right things moving…i.e. the scapulo-thoracic joint.  The thoracic spine is often overlooked area of the spine when dealing with shoulder injuries.  I can tell you that if you start to look here as well as the hips when dealing with shoulder issues, you will be much more successful in reducing pain.

Bill and Mike provide all the why’s, what’s and how’s of maximizing your upper body warm-up’s.  There are a number of drills that target these seven key areas:
1. Thoracic Spine Mobility
2. Scapular Mobility
3. Scapular and Rotator Cuff muscle activation
4. Shoulder Mobility
5. Wrist and Elbow Mobility
6. Relationship between the Shoulder, Trunk and Hips
7. Avoiding Prolong Static Stretching in the Warm-up

The great thing about this DVD is that you can use the exercises in the warm-up or as a stand alone “pre-hab” session to really work on bullet-proofing your upper body.

This is another key addition to any coach’s library and will make a huge difference in your and your athlete’s programs.

So what else are you waiting for?  Click here to find out more info and purchase this DVD and manual.

If you haven’t seen Magnificent Mobility, here is a great deal on both DVD’s together.
